Who are pharmacists and what do they do?

Pharmacists are experts in drugs that treat and prevent human diseases. They prepare medications, fill prescriptions and teach patients how to take the medication.

How do pharmacists typically spend their workday?

As a pharmacist, you will most likely work in a hospital, clinic or community drug store. Your duties will include constantly studying and learning about the properties and side effects of new drugs and communicating this information to doctors and patients. In a hospital or clinic, you may advise doctors on which drugs they should purchase or recommend for patients.

What does it take to be a good pharmacist?

To be a good pharmacist, you should have a good memory and enjoy learning about new medicines and treatments. You should also be trustworthy and detail-oriented and have good communication skills.

What are some health-related jobs that are similar to that of a pharmacist?

Biomedical engineer, pharmacy technician, medical laboratory technician or technologist, biological scientist.
