The College and Health Options: Ideas Creating Excellence (CHOICE) program guides minority and low-income high school students from central and northern California into colleges and towards health related careers. The program’s goals include motivating students early in their academic careers, building on existing interest in science and medicine and finding ways to introduce students to a host of different health-related career options. CHOICE provides two one-day college and career-based workshops on Stanford campus. These workshops focus on college admissions and financial aid information, health and medical laboratory demonstrations and interactive panel discussions with health and medical professionals.
CHOICE is a component of SMYSP that has collaborative partnerships with 13 public high schools in the San Joaquin Valley. Through this program, students in these schools receive counseling on the college admissions process. Below is a list of the high schools currently participating in CHOICE and the academic year they partnered with this program.
